Book Launch: Four New Children’s Books from Reach Incorporated Authors
We are THRILLED to announce the addition of four new children’s books, authored by the amazing tutors of Reach Incorporated, to the Shout Mouse Press catalog. This stunning set of books covers important themes for people of all ages:
Game of Pharoahs is the tale of three reluctant learners who get sucked into a video game, where they must learn to ask for help and challenge themselves to return home.
Georgia in the Jungle explores grief and loss as Georgia, a young girl who recently lost her best friend, visits the zoo with her parents.
Man Up! follows Aaron, whose peers often call him Crybaby because he’s prone to tears, as he learns how to nurture his sensitivity and express himself.
Money Marcus tells the story of two friends, Marcus and Taylor, whose friendship is tested when Marcus finds a winning lottery ticket.
Last night we had the chance to celebrate the thirteen authors of these new titles. There were some familiar faces: Jesse and Talik are now two-time published authors, as both co-authored books in 2018 as well. Anaya, Camal, Dameona, Dewan Jailah, Japan, Jock, London, Riley, Shirelle, and Victoria joined the ranks of Shout Mouse Press teen authors. We are so proud of these young people, who have shown vulnerability, strength, wisdom, and more in their writing of these impressive stories.
The book launch, hosted by Shout Mouse Press partner Reach Incorporated at Optum HQ, brought together a happy crowd of supporters and partners. Reach Incorporated Executive Director Mark Hecker made remarks before unveiling the book covers alongside the authors of each book. Shout Mouse Press staff interviewed the young authors about what they learned through this experience and how it feels to be published.
We’d like to make a special shout-out to the remarkable illustrators of these books: Anthony (Tony) White brought Game of Pharaohs to life in comic form; Joy Ingram compassionately created the characters of Man Up!; India Valle, in her second book with Shout Mouse Press, flawlessly captured the tone of Georgia in the Jungle; and Camryn Simms showed her visual storytelling skills in Money Marcus.
It’s never easy to put together four books in as many months -- our authors and staff put in a whopping 900 hours! -- but it is always worth it to see the joy of young authors holding hard copies of their books. You can buy your copy today!
