The 10th Anniversary Edition. This book was authored by DC high school students who served as reading tutors for Reach Incorporated. Now available as a board book.
In the summer of 2014, eight DC high school students took on a "monumental" project: to create an alphabet book that showcased the real DC, one that captured not just the Washington of tourists and lawmakers, but the District seen through the eyes of those who call it home.
With cameras in hand, and under the guidance of Shootback founder Lana Wong, these teenage tutors of Reach Incorporated took to the streets to photograph and write about the places that made DC their own. Shout Mouse Press was proud to publish the project as one of its first youth-authored books.
Since its release, this beloved book has made quite an impact: it's been used in the curriculum for DC Public Schools, distributed to over 10,000 DC kids and educators, and even inspired its own music video!
