Meet the Authors
As reading tutors to elementary-aged students, the teens of Reach noticed that few children's books reflected their lived experience as youth of color. So they decided to take action and write their own. Now these D.C. teens are diversifying children's literature, one smart-fun-real-brave-bold story at a time.
Angelo lives in Washington, DC. He is a 90s baby. He likes to play sports, and his favorite sport is rugby. When he grows up, Angelo would like to be an architect.
Sasha was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She moved to Washington, DC at age four and has attended three different schools: Aton Elementary, Brookland Public Charter, and Hyde / Perry Street Prep. She is very talented!
Sean attended Eastern Senior High School in Washington, DC when he authored his books. His hobbies include spending time with friends and family. playing sports, and eating. As a tutor with Reach, he liked when kids were happy about learning new words or when they improved reading because of his help. While working with Shootback, he enjoyed taking pictures around DC and learning things about his city. His future plans are to major in engineering, find a good career that he likes, and travel.
Marc is from Washington, DC. He enjoys playing sports, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Marc attended Ballou Senior High School when he authored his books.
