Art is the Future

Art is the Future

During this time, art has been very helpful and beneficial to have in my life: from music, knitting, cooking, painting, and movies. There are often many different forms of art that people do not think about on a daily basis, but I like to use art to learn new things, pass time, relax, and save money.

While in quarantine, the music I listen to has changed. I like to listen to more gospel and R&B music that is more relaxed and mellow to reflect my mood rather than the more upbeat music that I listen to on a normal basis.

Cooking and learning new recipes has been an exploration into my diet choice; I am vegetarian and you often have to think outside the box to keep things interesting with your meals. Cooking more often during this time saves money compared to eating out. It’s also safer and avoids social contact.

Painting has been helpful during this time, and allows me to connect with others and myself. It can also be fun and relaxing, just having that time to just think let your thoughts out onto a piece of paper or canvas.

Watching TV shows and movies has allowed time to go by quicker. Although, I may need to pick up a book soon. One of my favorite shows that I watched recently is Money Heist which is a show about a group of people who successfully pull off a bank robbery in Spain.

I picked up knitting a little over six months ago as a healthy hobby. It fits me in this stressful stage, allows me to create new things, and challenges me to try new things every day.
