The Implosion

The Implosion
by Johnay K.

This disease has grown as a result of COVID-19 and has bolted into a lot of lives causing uncertainty in many households. There are plenty of people who were already victims of this menace prior to COVID-19’s unwelcomed entrance into society, which only progressed their symptoms. The following are known symptoms (given in no order):

Fatigue, sweating, fear, insomnia, nausea, trembling, palpitations, lack of concentration, hypervigilance, irritability, worthlessness, and so on.

To further the severity of this disease, there are many of those who choose not to report it as a result of believing it can be ignored, and therefore cured. This is not the answer to curing this disease. This disease can be self-diagnosable, and treatment can be as follows:

Self-care

Exercising, meditation, relaxing/deep breathing, journaling, painting, etc.

*Finding an immediate healthy outlet for emotions is a number one choice

(This can prohibit the progression of symptoms)

Therapy

Speaking with a therapist, pinpointing the trigger, working on coping mechanisms, modifying negative thoughts, etc.

Medication

Prescribed medication can assist, but can also suppress the underlying issues, leading to a recurrence of the disease.

With the presence of COVID-19,  it is important to take care of your mental health, also year round. Oftentimes, things tumble in our lives, causing a buildup of inner thoughts and emotions to overflow. When there is no release for these things, everything turns into a domino effect triggering an implosion, and waves of destruction in whatever form our body chooses to use as a detoxification. This can look like wanting to be alone, or having a panic attack in public. This is a way of our minds, bodies, and souls to tell us that it is okay and necessary for us to take a break from reality sometimes. It can also be a sign that we need to face our realities, so that we can cut off anything that has been weighing us down in the first place.

Anxiety has an unusual way of speaking to us through our bodies, as does any other disorder.
