Caring For Thyself

Caring For Thyself
by Marlow

Now this might be a bold statement to make, but I would argue that everyone in some part in their life has practiced self-care. While at first glance, I did not know how to define the term, I saw that I often take time for myself to work on aspects of my personal life. It is important to take time out of the day to turn away from all the responsibilities that we must bear and allow ourselves a moment to have some downtime. I usually practice self-care after completing the bulk of my assignments or finishing some tasks from work. I typically de-stress by turning on my Xbox One console. I am usually playing something like Batman Arkham City, which is one of my favourite games due.  I love all things related to DC Comics and especially when they relate to the world’s greatest detective.

If I am not playing something on my Xbox, then Netflix is the next solution to ease a long day’s work. If anyone is looking for a new show to watch, then I would suggest Dracula, the Ozarks, House of Cards, Penny Dreadful, and DevilMan Crybaby for anyone who is an anime fan.

As of late, my self-care routine has revolved around exercising on the treadmill for an hour or more each day of the week. Not only is it great for me (due to the amount of sweat I am able to muster with little to no effort), but more importantly, I am getting back on my exercise routine. The reason why I find exercising an important factor in self-care is due to how life for many people has become indoors, comparable to the life of a hamster.Thankfully, we have more than one way to exercise than run on a metal wheel.

As for my relationship with self-care, I would say that it is growing more and more as I become older. There are other activities I would like to venture into, such as origami, but I am not sure that I would like to waste the amount of paper it would take to make a crane or scorpion.
