Yurieli Otero-Asmar is an illustrator from Dorado, Puerto Rico, with an MA in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She creates art for middle grade and young adult books, which combines her passion for books, reading, and art. In her illustrations, Yurieli enjoys designing characters and emphasizing the relationship and dynamic among them, as well as incorporating magical and fantastical elements. Additionally, Yurieli’s BA in Psychology greatly influences her perspective in her art, which is why she wishes to represent how people are formed by their rich life experiences and diverse stories. Yurieli admires Shout Mouse’s mission, and is very excited to help amplify underheard voices and stories through her illustrations.
