Hayes Davis holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Maryland. He is a former Bread Loaf working scholar as well as a founding member of Cave Canem, a writer's center with a focus on African American poets and writers. His work has appeared in New England Review, Poet Lore, Gargoyle, Beltway Poetry Quarterly and several anthologies. Hayes teaches English at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC, where he also serves as the Upper School Coordinator for Equity, Justice & Community. He is excited to work with Shout Mouse to promote diverse voices within children’s literature!
